I was introduced to the band ‘Friends of Emmet’ a few months ago when we were both booked for World Suicide Prevention Day in Ottawa.
Friends of Emmet (F.O.E.) are a band from Dublin, Ireland. Formed in 2009 they are now based in Los Angeles, California.
F.O.E. have just released their debut album Coming Apart on April 23, 2010. It consists of ten tracks including a remake of David Bowie’s Young Americans. The video for the title track, ‘Coming Apart’ has a special guest appearance by Kevin Hines. Kevin has had a life long battle with mental illness and now advocates on braking the stigma and educates people on ‘Living Mentally Well’. Kevin and I met as I launched the Collateral Damage Project and we look forward to working together to get rid of the stigma that surrounds suicide.
Friends of Emmet received a “HMMA” nomination for their video ‘Coming Apart’ by Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
