A big thank you goes out to all of the Lakehead University (LU) students, faculty and staff who came out for a conversation on suicide. To all those who could not find a way to join us, we know you were there in spirit.
It’s my hope that we ignited a fire that continues a proactive dialogue on suicide. We truly can prevent suicide and we need to work together to make the change. Sign up for a SafeTALK or Mental Health First Aid workshop. Are you interested in organizing a fundraiser for the Collateral Damage Project? Email me to talk more about it. Did you know that by getting each student, faculty and staff to donate $1, would be a $10,000 contribution and create a dialogue on suicide that would certainly begin to break the stigma. You truly can be the change that is needed.
I believe that LU can be a leader in suicide prevention and tonight was a powerful starting point.
I invite you to share your comments. Thank you for joining the dialogue because Not Talking About it Isn’t Working.
Scott congrats on keeping the dialogue rolling….I still have students from NBCC Miramichi telling me about how much your talk meant to them. I wonder if they are looking for a fundraising idea? I like your suggestion of each student, faculty and staff donating $1.00 towards the Collateral Damage Project…I am going to introduce this idea to my contacts at NBCC and hope to provide your project with some furhter funding so that you can continue your important work…..Michele 🙂
